Different point
Harald was not describing what we generally consider basic strategy. He was talking about expectations identical to my mind to Griffin generic (the starting point for EOR calculations). In trying to understand exactly what he was trying to convey, I set up the hypothetical of double deck with the top deck and the bottom deck consisting of perfect decks and with 53 cards dealt, the dealer has a 4 and the player has a 10,2. He says the correct play in that instance (or any instance where exactly one perfect deck is unseen and the dealer has a four and the player has a total of twelve is hit and Mathprof (and Griffin) confirm.
I was pointing out if you had seen one complete deck, the count was zero (first I said -1 which is true off the top of the deck). A counter would pick up on the basic play by counting in this instance and hit. A counter would not pick up on the hypothetical instance which has a count of 0 and would stand because he would not be considering basic, regular or compisition at all. That would be an incorrect play.
The obscurity and unimportance of the point cannot be overstated which prompted the tongue in cheek statement we all should remember it. I was just joking.
