Don likes to raise his bet after a win (when the count calls for it, of course.)
GBV likes to raise his bet after a loss (again, when the count calls for it.)
The idea in either case is to make it appear to the pit that you are using some sort of progression, rather than counting.
It would seem to me that, as long as you are consistant, either method would achieve the desired result.
Positive progression, negative progression, who cares, as long as the pit thinks that you're some sort of progressionist.
Any sort of a pattern which appears to be based on the result of the previous hand will keep the pit much happier than someone whose bets are rising and falling strictly in accordance with the count.
