Of course it depends on how long the little ol' lady next to you ponders about rather to hit or not, but I'd guess a person is typically getting about 60 hands/hr playing one hand in that crowd.
That's excactly the right number.

There are about 2.7 cards per hand. 4 players + dealer + you = about 16 cards per round, if the shoe is dealt to 5 decks (which is deep) that makes about 260 cards dealt per shoe, or about 16 rounds per shoe. Typically you won't get more than 4 shoes per hour, if it is hand shuffled, sometimes only 3. Thus 48-64 hands per hour is a reasonable range to expect.
It doesn't take 15 minutes to deal a 6-deck shoe -- nowhere near that long. With a total of four players at the table, you will get, typically, 90-95 hands per hour. With five players, figure 5/6 of that amount, or about 75-79 hands. Note that, on p. 237 of "Pro BJ," for the 6-deck AC game, Wong gives 91 and 76.
For my SCORE "factors," I use 95, assuming a a total of 4 players at the table. These are very accurate and reliable numbers.

These figures assume average speed of ploppies. Professions play much faster.
With a good dealer you should easely get in 300 hands per hour and if you spread to two hands even 400 or more.
That's why it's much more lucrative to play at empty tables.

RPH (rounds per hour) is not the same as HPR (hands per hour). Normally, card counting analysis is based on RPH.

On average, we split 2.5% of the time. If we play 80 rounds per hour, we might generate 82 hands per hour. The difference isn't worth discussing.
Note, we're not talking about initial bets (1.0) vs. total bets (1.13), which also includes doubles. This is a separate matter.
As for some of the others, above, who are doing little more than offering "guesses," this really isn't worth debating if you haven't actually spent time clocking tables the way Wong and I did to generate our answers.
See BJA, pp. 20-21 and "Pro BJ," pp. 231-238. If you haven't done this kind of research, your opinions really aren't worth too much, but feel free to express them, nonetheless. :-)

The percentage of hands dealt at each count level, or the frequency distribution of a player's advantage, varies according to
-rules
-number of decks
-penetration, and
-number of players at the table.
Of course, one system gauges advantage differently than another, so different counting systems will produce different frequencies of count levels. However we can accept that every system gauges the player's advantage close enough, for their differences not to be so important. Therefore if we translate the count level to player's advantage, we should have approximately the same frequency distribution.

In your case, Beat the 6-Deck Game. But if you want knock-out visuals, as well as dead accuracy, you should purchase the Casino Vérité software. You can input all the above parameters, along with the color of the table felt, and watch all the data pour out vividly.

I understand what you say but I think "Just another idiot" is referring to RPH and not HPR. Also, many of the answers given refer to RPH.
What's the difference you may ask? If we play more than one spot we'll get more HPR but less RPH. More yet if SPL3 is allowed.
BTW, RPH is what we normally use in most stats. I believe there's an article about something called SCORE that uses 100 RPH ;-)

Snyder's charts are, unfortunately, not terribly accurate for this sort of thing. He simply estimated edge and gave frequencies (symmetrically) according to edge, rather than TC.
If you look at the Chapter 10 charts in BJA, you'll see that for the 4.5/6 game, truncated, hi-lo +2 and higher true counts occur almost exactly 15.0% of the time.
With all respect to Arnold, if you're looking for this kind of info today, I'd go to SBA, CV, BJRM, 6-7-8, or the Chapter 10 charts. They're much more accurate.
