Certainly a just decision but I don't understand how all of those gamblers had so much on hand to exploit the situation. Also, don't the dealers shuffle the cards themselves? Was all of this money won on one set of hands on one deck?

"I realize that ---and admit that I know almost nothing about baccarat. But the cards are never shuffled in baccarat? "
Here's how gamblers beat GN. First, study the chart, then read on further, and you know how they had done it.
they couldn't have known they were going to win hand number 1 so it was doubtful they bet $10,000 on that hand. They would also have to pick up on it pretty quickly to realize the situation and take advantage on hand #2. Even then, to figure out the sequence that you layed out for me (thanks!)it would take some pretty quick thinking (although pretty easy for the math inclined. You've certainly explained part of the mystery but I still find it pretty incredible that they all had such big bankrolls on hand to take advantage of the situation. Instead of suing the gamblers, the GN should have fired the dealer and pit for not realzing the situation (maybe they did). Thanks again for laying it out so clearly and it's nice to see the good guys win one.
It seems to me that the answer to your comment is that they didn't sit down to play without prior knowledge that the decks weren't shuffled and then discover it "on the fly," at the table.
Rather, if Gemaco was guilty of this procedural error of not pre-shuffling, the players must have seen other such decks prior to sitting down and had studied and memorized the sequence.
I didn't follow this story very closely, but no one is alleging that this was a one-time unique shoe, right?
No, I didn't see them, Don. I understand from him that you and he knew each other quite well. He spoke well of you. I learned his system and played alongside him for several people. I came close to meeting you one day at a casino. You do know another one of his students who we had played for!
There are tricks to spot a shoe with unshuffled 8decks. One of the tricks is to spot the burnt cards in an abnormal(randomized) sequence.
For example, a mini-bac-dealer frequently displays and burns 11 cards before she starts to deal the game. Here is a litmus test for you. Based on the burnt cards, can you pick out which shoe may contain unshuffled 8decks:
