Fresh Deck...BACK OFF

The other day I noticed a fellow player who like myself was up quite a bit, acted so obvoius as a purist counter because when the pitboss put a new fresh deck out on the SD game he immediately left.

Now I don't know how the rest of you re-act on this tactic used by the casinos, but I purposely stay, and find it more positive to hide the fact I'm counting by saying something like: "Boy, that last deck wasn't all that great, now we are going to really be lucky!"

In past postings, many of your comments seemed to say many here didn't realize the casinos think new cards will turn the tide of the cards.

Of course, I personally think this is a technique left over from about 10 years ago before the electronic ACE FINDER was implemented. Rather when counters could successfully cut to the aces or tens.

In the forum's oppinion, to not be labeled as a counter, should the winning player have stayed at least a few hands?

I see nothing about his behavior that would make anybody think that he was anything but impatient. Lots of players leave during card changes and shuffles. Most do it not because they think a new deck or shuffle will change their luck but simply to avoid wasting time.

I don't think any casinos change cards at single deck because it will negate the advantage of a card counter. I have seen it timed to interrumpt a positive deck, making it essentially a preferential shuffle.

If there was another table ready to go, I like leaving immediately. If there was not another table ready to go, I like staying. This has nothing to do either with cover or the suspicion that the new cards will be less favorable. It is just the best use of time.

Can't remember who the authors were who spoke of the new deck, fresh deck back off tactic, but in a certain casino they used to do it to me often. Later after creating the right myth, they don't use it anymore on me. Well, maybe seldom, for they suspicion seems to have faded.

You could be right, and my understanding and those authors who have wrote about it are wrong also, but that's been my understanding.

He and I were way up, and as soon as they introduced the new deck he was out of there. I doubt it was boredom, but you have a good point.

It's just that when they are only shoving a new deck on your table, not the others, one gets the message that they are trying to take the edge off of the winner hoging so many chips or else they believe you are a counter and want to back you off or change your luck.

DD, your argument makes sense; who knows why the casino does some of these tactics.

Soon, an aquaitence of mine, was an EYE, will give me his EYE MANUAL. That may explain the why of this tactic and many other casino counter measures that enquirings minds want to know. I want to share it with the forum if Wong agrees it can be done without irritating the industry; it is an oath they take to not share that data as I understand.
