Monaco is less than a square mile, the whole country is so urbanly congested, it makes Monaco and Monte Carlo almost synonymous.
The country is surrounded on three sides by France, and the fourth side by the French Riveria. There are no border checks, and if you make a wrong turn, you may find yourself in a tunnel that comes out in Nice.
If you were there and thought you were in France, what would be the biggie? Heck, pretend it's in Italy. That's only ten miles away still with no border checks and everyone there is using the euro!
San Marino and the casinos in Rimini are on the other side of nothern Italy on the Adriatic Sea, several hundred miles from Monte Carlo.
Did you perhaps mean San Remo? That Italian city and its casinos are very near the French and Monaco borders.
of course. San Remo is in the Italian riviera and home to the old time music festival.

I can assure you that Monaco laws and police behavior are definitely NOT the same as in France, especially when it comes to casino patrons. Think of Monaco police as Las Vegas police and French police as Atlantic City police. I hears there's a difference...
There are differences in security as well. Let's just say that in Monaco you are constantly watched and recorded and not just in the casinos. OK, maybe there is one spot in your toilet room which is not covered by CCTV...
Think I saw it on YouTube-Katie,Semyon and Andy (M.I.T. Team)were working it. They got caught. Taken to police headquarters. Released. Told not to reenter the COUNTRY-OR ELSE! Not the casino-the COUNTRY!
