Professional Courtesy
May be too much to expect from unprofessional people, as are some of the other posters in this thread.
I agree with you main point, and will expand further on it. But I do fell that posting a description of another counter is not an appropriate way of handling your grievance. I do not subscribe to the view that two wrongs make a right.
Don't be too hard on this guy. He may not have realized that you were there. Yes, there are some counters who use these convoluted 3-level counts with 4 side counts, whose brain is so fatigued from counting that they wouldn't even notice if the building was in fire.
For you guys out there who asked what to do if there is only one playable table. If you are in LV, just go to another casino. Isn't that why you traveled to LV in the first place, because there were lots of places to play?
If you are playing out in the boondocks then you have a different problem. What if there is only one or two tables in a casino, and you have traveled a long distance. Then I think you should work on your game selection a little better. The number of tables in a casino is an important criterion in game selection. I would not travel to play in a poor casino. And I would rate a casino with only 1 or 2 available tables as poor.
In case you do not find "doing the right thing" its own reward, let me point out that professional courtesy can help you establish positive, cooperative relationships with other players. They can be a valuable source of information, etc. Some of my best friends I met when one of us wonged in, and left, the table of another. The value of the information I have gotten from them, over the years, is far more valuable than the lost EV of a few minutes
