my two memories of Ploppus Maximus
I used to play Wendover quite a bit, then known as Silver Smith. It was Junketeer heaven then with plane loads of clueless gamblers unloading at the small airport just east of town. The two $25 tables were full, and I decided to play at a $5 table. I knew the dealer and told him "I'll play till the clueless come". About 10 minutes later a guy walks up who had one of those little buttons on identifying him as a "junketeer", and he asked the dealer "is this a blackjack table". I just looked at the dealer, smiled and colored up.
My other memory took place in the Mirage, where once upon a time I was RFB and was my Vegas "home". I'm on a $25 table DD table sitting at 3rd base. Guy walks up with a small handful of purple chips, sits down and bets a purple. Dealer gets an ace up, he tosses over a pair of 3s. He splits the 3s with another purple. Dealer gives him an 8 and he doubles with another purple, he gets a 5 for 16. He works the second hand into a 17. I forgot my hand, but the dealer turns over a 9 under for 20. This guy drops $1.5k in about 10 seconds. I was so blown away by his play that I said "I normally never say anything, but I gotta tell ya, that was about the dumbest BJ play I've ever seen". He responded with "yeah, I knew it was wrong, but I was just feeling cocky".
Lots of entertaining people out there! :)
