Double shoe??

Does anyone have any experience with a double shoe. The Pennsylvania gaming control board table games regulations mention the possible use of a double shoe. From the description it sounds like 2 different multi deck shoes would be used, with separate discard trays, alternating rounds between shoes. I think I have vaguely heard of this and that the color of the last card dealt determines which shoe the next round is dealt from. Again, does anyone have any experience with, played against or even seen these in use?

There was a discussion a month or so about the "double shoe" on one of the GC member boards. I gave my opinion of where Pennsy got that terminology (Copied from NJ rule and regs). Others chimed in on a different source of the term including the "double shoe" system of dealing to prevent card counting. I think I located the patent for that method and posted it.

I wouldn't be concerned. The whole idea is absurd from any point of view. It would take up so much time and be so irritating to the average player, that it's just not going to happen, especially now that CSM are being accepted more and more by the average sheep.

A.C. toyed with a 2 x 8 deck shoe. It never got off the ground. Not too smart. Just means you'd have 2 counters at the table instead of one.

I have seen it employed on a Casino Ship that used to sail out of Lynn, MA. It was simply a means to get more hands per hour. They used one discard tray, but when a shoe completed, a "shuffling" employee would place a newly shuffled cards in the dealing shoe and proceed to shuffle the new decks. No problems. Nothing funky going on and I was able to freely observe the shuffle. Nothing to fear.
