Don/all - I have been playing for years but didn’t know what to do. I had 33 and the dealer had A. The dealer must have thought she had a 10 showing and flipped over another ace (so she had AA). I could have backed out of the hand. I wasn’t sure. I chose to split. And then drew each into 13 and hit both. I am not really sure if any of this is right - I should have backed out? I don’t think hitting ever makes sense.

Bjctr,
As Snicklefritz correctly indicated above, Hitting 33 vs. AA is the "Hole Card Basic Strategy". However, the Hitting EV is approximately -0.25267 (from an infinite deck calculation), so you were at a roughly 25% disadvantage. Therefore, backing out was the EV-maximizing play.
For future reference, the only +EV hands when the dealer has AA are 19, 20, and 21.
Hope this helps!
