This was in a foreign country, very small casino. probably no bigger than 40'x 30' for the entire casino. Table limits were $10-150 although they also had a $25-250 table that was not open when I played.
Rules were ok- 4 deck, S17, DAS, and RSA I think. About 2.5 to 3.0 out of 4 decks dealt out.
No machine or mirror to peak at hole card, so dealer would look the old fashioned way on 10s and Aces. In the old days, I would remember the dealer shrouding the card with the hand and providing only the quickest and slightest exposure of the card (no way I could ever see it). Here, one dealer was lifting the card about 60 degrees from parallel. To top that off there was a full length mirror about 10 feet behind dealer!
My eyesight is terrible, but even I could see the hole card in the mirror. I could not make out the number but I could count the spots and and get pretty good idea of what the card number was or easily see if there was paint. This would have been a piece of cake to see for someone with good eyesight.
I was not planning to play bj on this trip and only gave it a look because it was a less than a mile from my hotel. I only had about $1000 as I did not know there was decent blackjack. I lost a few $100 double downs and tossed in the towel when I was down almost the whole $1000. but I am considering going back with the right amount of bankroll.
Do you think there is much risk of having winnings confiscated or worse if someone exploited this game for a big win (say $5000+). As I said this is a foreign country (latin america) and the casino was part of a hotel but not an US based hotel like Mariott or Hilton.
