Counting cards = trouble...

Maybe people dont agree with me, but so far, from my card counting experience, card counting is killing me...even if you do not get killed by the vegas mafia like in the 60s, looks like karma is playing bitchy. Somehow after having a good day playing cards, im feeling lucky, but outside, my street luck turns into a frenzy of people looking for trouble and fights, not mentioning that ive been having imnsomnia every night after learning to count cards so im feeling abit like in the fight club...

Before you can move forward to success at card counting, you have to rid yourself of voodoo thinking:

"karma" = silliness

"lucky" = silliness

lucky = silliness? dude, eventhough in the end you have the advantage in blackjack, you still have bad sessions, now dont tell me thats not bad, random of events or luck or watever u want to call it is part of any card game

Luck, or more precisely, variance, is a part of the game. Karma is not. They are not the same thing. This is what Roontz was telling you. Card counting will give you an advantage. In gambling, an advantage is all you can ask for. Luck will take of itself, evening out in the long run. It's okay to use terms like "karma", lots of folks do. But dude, you will profit by accepting that such concepts have nothing to do with probability, which rules in gambling.

You need to really understand that there is no such thing as karma, luck, lucky people, unlucky or unlucky people. Negative and positive variance of events happens in everything we do in life. Although, if we make good choices in the things we do, we will find that on average we will have more positive variance results than if we had made choices that we not so good.

If you're having huge downswings,then you're probably not counting right or using the right system. I rely on the halves system and some luck. Hell,sometimes I get screwed on the high counts but I'm either ahead or even for the most part. Don't overbet.

Sometimes, I think I should sue my brains for nonsupport, Don. Perhaps I'm the one who needs to update my grammar instead of John (the saying "pot, kettle, black" comes to mind). Given the circumstances, I'll just say......umm, err, ahem, I was wrong.

Isn't it great we get many benefits from reading all kinds of stuff, here. Now we get spelling and correct grammar lessons, all uninvited and free. If incorrect Blackjack play, understanding and coping with flux, varience and rampaging pitbulls weren't enough to concern us, now comes another minor distraction: before any of us can possibly win with this wild and unruly beast of a game, we need to spell correctly!

Hey, if the truth be told, there is nothing wrong with correct grammar, even though it has nothing to do with blackjack. I don't mind Don's corrections one bit, as I am one who tends to learn from my errors, no matter what the subject may be. In fact, I'd rather be corrected on my errors than never knowing I made a mistake, although others may differ. As far as I'm concerned, it's either right or wrong, and I don't care if the subject is card counting or the correct wording in a sentence - I would rather do the correct thing.

Some folks might be touchy on this subject, but I have other priorities, such as when to put out my max bet at a "given" count (hope I got that right, Don).

No offense intended to you or to anyone else, NB, it's strictly my opinion.

I get a kick out of posts, on all message boards, which criticize
someone's spelling and/or grammar, but contain spelling or grammar
mistakes in the critique.

Often times the rant targets non-English speaking people, who
actually do a fairly good job at communicating in English,
considering it's not their native language. This is what bugs
me the most.

Certainly, all of my spelling and grammar errors are TYPOs!

Yes, that is what Don is-a sayin'! Absolutely!

Before I learned how to correctly spell "touelve", "therteen", "forteen", etc, I could not bring myself to count up to them numbers. I was actually scared of high counts! It was pathetic. Then I hired a professional card counter who taught me spelling.

How well you have Don's posts figured out! You must be a professional card counter too, right?

This isn't going to go on forever; I promise! :-)

I wish I could remember all of those grammar rules from 3rd grade.

For your amusement, I ran across the below site just last week and the
link was titled "Grammer Pretest". Obviously it wasn't a spelling
quiz! :D

What a surprise and a pleasure to see the legendary BJ guru and successful author himself - Don Schlesinger - gracing the pages of this humble free board site; even though it concerned that topic that does not excite me: spelling. (Dear Lord, help me with the spelling in this one!)

There now, with acknowledgement, homage and genuflection each attended, I have some bad news for all you spelling geeks: I much prefer 'varience' to 'variance,' and I'm going to continue spelling it with two 'e's, rather than just one, just to piss y'all. So to hell with the rules, just as I have this same renegade attitude toward the pit: to hell with their dumb rules too!

Now, where were we? Oh yeh. Counting cards and...Oh NO! Was that my mug on that flyer I just saw them passing in the pit? Ohmygod!
