Cost of always standing on 16 vs 10

What is the cost of always standing on 16 vs 10.

6 deck LV strip rules.

The reason I ask is it would seem that if your going to make BS mistakes for cover it would be smarter to make then in a way that they are wrong in low counts but right when the count is high so you would have more money out.

Always standing on 16 vs 10 (and being vocal about it) would seem to make it not look weird when you did it on a high count.

A "friend" of mine who worked at a casino on the floor told me that this is the one sure fire bell that goes off and shows they have a counter. He said it was really the only tell that they had to know.

IF they had someone who would hit this at low counts and then stand when the count jumped.

Is he lying? or is this that big of a sign.

Can I just stand on this all the time with hurting myself too badly?

If you're a counter, and you're going to spread (you mention high counts and low counts), then it's impossible to answer your question without knowing your spread.

1) BJA3 uses four decks, not six, in the Camouflage chapter, and the penalty is greater for standing in four-deck than it is in six-deck.

2) No attempt was made to refine BS by standing on a multi-card 16. The assumption back then was that correct BS is to hit 16 v. 10 all the time. Standing on multi-card 16 was a refinement that was not factored into the chart.

3) Finally, as you mentioned, ALL decisions, including multi-card 16s, were used for the study and not just the initial two-card hand.

If you do the math, considering all three of the above, you should come up with the number in BJA3, which I also discuss at the bottom of p. 96.

It looks like the cost is very very small.

I would be playing it right with a large bet out and a statistical toss up when a small bet is out.
