I would try to establish a private game on board rather than test the cruise game conditions. Pirates are fond of watercraft for some reason.
My experience on cruises, and I've been on many, is that the blackjack is terrible, and has only gotten worse over the years. And this doesn't really matter, but the players are horrendous. I actually got half-shoed on Tuesday for a cruise that started on Sunday because I used an unusually large spread and played well. Go for the buffet and the excursions and whatever else you like, but don't anticipate playing much blackjack. If you play anything]resembling basic strategy, you will stick out like a sore thumb. You should check out the casino because you never know, but don't have great expectations. Have a good time.
