After getting a mailer from this new property, I drove out to Lake Las Vegas (which is in Henderson, not Vegas) to see the conditions at this place. It is a moderately upscale joint with a pit surrounded by machines. Noise from machines is pretty low. New card signups are getting up to 3000 points (200 pts=$1). From any table in the pit you can watch the game on a plasma Zenith Widescreen TV. If I were playing tables during the Superbowl, this is where I would want to be. They seem to be having difficulty with the HVAC system as some tables had enough cold air blowing down on them to scatter paper money. PB assured me that the problem was in the midst of being corrected. Most of the players there I witnessed were well aware of BS and not neurotically superstitious. Overly superstitious people bother me because they think dealer pats are your fault when you deviate from BS.
The games:
BJ: 2D (HE=0.3932%)or 6D(HE=0.6233%), take your pick, $5 each. DOA, DAS, H17, RSA to 4 hands. Cuts are 4.5 to 5/6 and about 1.5/2. NO LATE SURRENDER. This makes the games tougher as there are still many places that allow LS. I am used to having LS on a 6D game, but without that incentive I would recommend only the 2D. No side bets anywhere, thank god. PBs did not seem too watchful of the game. Most of the players were spreading bets, even ploppies. This can be helpful as frequent moves won't catch the PBs attention as much. Of course, there is always the eye. The player to my right was spreading from one hand of $10 to 2 hands of $75, even catching a snap on both $75s without the PBs batting an eye.
Craps: The only other game in the pit besides BJ and Roulette. $5 min with 5X odds ($30 on 5,9). Vigs on the lay bets are paid up front. Setting of dice is allowed, however, they say not when the table starts getting full. Occasional mistakes by dealers means you must be vigilant. Although, this did save me $10 on a come bet that was ignored after craps was thrown. Dealers at all the tables are very cordial and do not toke hustle, they are sure to show their gratitude when tipped. They are helpful in making sure novices have the better of any two bets going. E.G., moving a woman's $10 place 9 to her odds when the 9 was set as a point.
VP: I did not sample the VP while here, although I certainly should have. They boast of having over 650 machines with 100% return or better. I wish more places did this, as I feel they would lose very little since perfect VP strategists are few and far between. The "winner effect" will probably assure this casino that they have made a good decision to offer full-pay.
Overall, I rate this casino to be worth a return visit. However, get some LS on the 6D game, guys. My figures on the BJ house edges are slightly off as the RSA improves things a bit. Try advantage play on the VP to divert from being on the tables too long and catching notice.
