I'm thinking of going to Casino Del Sol in Tucson as a side trip from Phoenix. An older issue of CBJN shows 6 deck penetration as 5.5 decks with S17, DAS, RSA, LS. Does anyone know what the current conditions are? Any other comments about Casino Del Sol, including heat, would be appreciated. Thanks for your help.
Perhaps you need not ask about 'HEAT' as they use RFID chips, as noted in CBJN.
That means that the casino has spent a great deal of money on high tech chips that track YOUR every wager.

Hmmm the Feb. 07 issue of CBJN doesn't say anything about RFID chips. Is there a way to identify RFID chips while at a table? I have seen 1 Mindplay table in my life. Can RFID chips be in play without Mindplay being present? Thanks again.
I may be mistaken but I believe that the Mindplay tables used in Nevada did not have RFID chips.
I have also played at casinos that use RFID in every chip. There is a button between the dealer and the shoe and after all the bets are placed, before dealing, the dealer hits that button. There is a computer screen attached to the table near 3rd base and if you read that screen it will show your total bet, average bet and high bet among other things. This information does not necessarily correlate to the count as you would need special cards and readers or someone in the eye counting to do this. Perhaps if the casino buys the full system offered by the manufacturer they get all of this.

Sounds like they mainly use it for tracking for comps rather than to bust AP's. Does however, make it much easier to notice a bet spread pattern.
Very true that the computer used with RFID table systems will show the spread but it does not correlate it to the count unless another step is taken.
I think shufflemaster or one of the other firms that makes it's money by selling greed and paranoia to casinos, has a system that similar to mindplay, uses a reader and marked cards along with RFID chips. Do not know if it is up and running yet or just in development. This would cover the additional step needed and would also be subject to the use by casinos to cheat players.
I do believe that once they can develope one of these systems to the point that the average player does not even know it is there and it does not slow down the game, it might become effective. One of the biggest factors that has worked against things like Mindplay and CSM's is that even a player who might be a pure ploppy and play some very bad games, feels that there is something wrong with strange gizmos on his table and will go elsewhere to play. Since these are the people who do donate to the casino's profits, their fear (without knowledge) of these things has been a huge factor in their failures.
comp worth and average bet by registering every bet made. They know exactly how many hands per hour the dealer is giving and how much action the table has garnered. They also know your big and small bets and how often you make each of them. A spread bigger than X can automatically trigger a computer notification to surveillance to watch a specific player. Surveillance no longer has to guess as to your bet when there is a bad angle or small stack. It just shows right there on the screen making real time countdowns of your play much easier.
