capital and spread question

Im going on a 4 day casino trip to europe and planning to invest a considerable amount of bj hours there...
my question is, being kinda short on capital, if a total stake of a 1000$ will do with a bet spread of 1-4 (50 big bets is what ive read to be suffice) from 5 to 20 dollars?

Usually European Games are multi-deck shoe games, and with ENHC rules, a 1 to 4 spread isn't going to get you anywhere.
Your risk of going broke is about the same as flat betting $7 with a $1000 bank, which is pretty low.

You aren't going to go broke with a $1000 bankroll, but don't plan on winning a bunch either. Of course, in the short run anything can happen, you might get lucky and come out ahead.

With $1000 to start, trying to really beat the game and using a proper sized spread, would only make your risk of ruin so high, your chances of going broke would be close to 100%.

bassicly what you are saying is that until i accumalate a larger
capital, say 3000$, i should stay away from the tables...

for a 6 decks shoe like its customed in europe ill probably need
a larger bet spread that will enlarge the possiblity of ruin for
a mere 1000$ total capital.

I don't much about European conditions, but if you can wong-in, wong-out, then that is the way to go. With your limited bank-roll, I would recommend wonging-in at TC = +2 and wonging-out at TC < +1 with the following spread:

+1 <= TC < +4: $5
+4 <= TC < +6: $10
+6 <= TC < +8: $15
+8 <= TC: $20

or a small positive progression ($5, $7.50, $10, $15, $20, etc with each new progress at $5 after a lost) at TC of 1.5+ and higher.

The only reason I can think for using a progression is for cover. However, it would seem to me that no cover is need if betting $5-$20. You're best off betting in proportion to your advantage.

If someone is risk adverse but still wants to make money with card counting, then a small positive progression makes sense (at TC of 1.5 and higher) because you only bet more when you've won the previous hand. The objective, as I understand from reading his post, is not to max ev because the guy is only bringing $1,000 -- being kinda short on capital.

the problem with wonging, at least at east europeans casinos, are
that there arent many tables with 5$ dollars minimum to choose from.

in addition, i have encountered many players that would not
happily greet one that play only once and again (waiting for
a positive count) and their reason being that his entrance disrupts
the "order" of the cards in the dealers favour.

i am trying to make money at card counting playing correctly,
meanning betting 5$ for TC=+1. 10$ for TC=+2. 15$ TC=+3. 20 Tc=+4.

due to low penetration in every game that i encountered so far
(66% - 4 decks out of six dealt) i havent seen a TC of +5 or higher.

merely reduces your action by forcing you to wait to put out a bigger bet. If you wanted to lower your level of risk, you could accomplish the same thing by using a smaller unit size.

If you remember your risk-reward class:
1) For any given level of risk: max reward
2) For any given level of reward: min risk.

Hence, my comment of flat betting. I think bigplayer's comment is the reason why well-intended comments degenerate into something else. I don't want my accomodation to Panama Rick to be an invitation for people to stand on a soapbox.
