Can we COUNT like this?

I was sitting to play before. NoW i start WONG-IN and OUT. when i see somewhere is shuffling, then i go over there, just sometimes wait for a delaer to finish a shuffle and change cash for player still waste time. SO, i start to walk around, when I see some TABLE has alot of cards on ( 3,4 or 5 in a row. that means so many small cards out) then i start COUNT quickly. Get the running count, and take the used card back to the end of the shoe. as long as it is over Ture 1, then i JUMP in. IS it safe? many unknown cards out before, but save alot of time....

The true count is the running count / number of unseen decks, whether they be in the front or rear of the shoe.

is "penetration". If this is a 6D game with 83% pen (5 decks dealt) and you jump in with one deck in the discard tray, you dropped that to a 4/6 deck game (66% pen) which is not a very good game. If 2 decks are already in the discard tray, it becomes a 50% unplayable game.

Maybe so many lo-cards dealt before, then we are playing a positive count. You don't know. What you do know is the low cards that you saw. If you have a sufficiently high positive expectation based on this, you should be playing.

Bad pen changes the distribution of favorable counts, not the odds themselves - a TC of +3 gives you the same edge in a 4/6 as it does 5.5/6 (I'm not getting into floating advantage here), so if you see lots of small cards out make the correct bets.

You are correct that you wouldn't want to make wonging shoes with discards your overall strategy, of course, as that would effectively worsen the pen by that level - probably an unplayabe one. You just wouldn't want to pass on a +2 just because two decks are already out.

anytime you see the TC at 1.5 or more, regardless of the pen and the number of cards that have already been dealt from the shoe.
