Can Dealer cheat ?

I am playing in BJ in Russia. Many people say, the Casinos are cheating here.
I personally have the impression, that quite often there are sequences of same type of cards, I mean, several small ones in a row, and several high ones in a row. This might give the dealer an advantage, I guess. Is it possible for the dealer to cheat,if yes, how ?

The short answer to your question is, "yes, the dealer can cheat." If it is a hand-held game, one common way of cheating is to deal seconds. The dealer peeks at his top card. If it is a good card, such as a ten or an ace, he doesn't deal it to the players. Instead, he deals the next card, the one under the top card, to the players. A dealer who is very skilled at this can do it without easily being detected. There are other methods as well, such as using a false shuffle.

Having a string of bad cards is no indicator in and of itself of being cheated. If the dealer has good skills, it can be very difficult to detect.

No, no handheld cards, but in a shuffle (?), 5 or 6 decks of cards.
Where does it mean, false shuffle ? Shuffle is the box for the cards ?
There is much discussion about counting, but what is it worth in case there is cheating ?
Many bad strings of cards simply made me suspicious.

A pitch dearler is a dealer dealing the cards from his hands ?
If yes, then I simply prefere to avoid such a casino. I do not like the idea to pay a bribe otherwise. Then no need for playing at all, because you loose any chance for a win, even in case of counting.

Cheating was not uncommon in the "Wild West" in the past, so why not in the "Wild East" nowadays.
Few dealers will cheat you in US, may be because there are quite a few expirienced gamblers to detect it.
Here in Russia it it different. Here it is possible, that some business man is killed in an armoured Mercedes using a thermite shell, designed to crack a NATO tank.
So, still convinced about minimal amount of cheating in Russia ?
In case, you are brave, there are very fashionable casinos in Moscow and St. Petersburg, one is looking like ancient palace from the inside (better than Monte Carlo), offering also alcoholic drinks like whiskey (here whiskey costs a small fortune, because of import) or sandwiches with red caviar for free. And there is quite some choice in casinos of different levels. I have the impression, besides Vegas St. Peterburg and Moscow are among the the biggest gambling cities in the world, regarding number of casinos.
So give it a try here, it is even very pleasant for day time leisure activities. Being a german, living in Russia, I prefere St. Petersburg much more than Moscow. Much more culture here.

There are a lot of ways for the casino to cheat. Some require a knowledgable and/or talented dealer, some do not. One of the easiest ways for a casino to cheat is to remove a few high cards from the deck/shoe. If you are constantly ending up with a high count at the end of the deck/shoe then this may be happening. There are many other ways, some of which are quite difficult to detect.

The consensus appears to be that casino cheating is rare in Las Vegas and Atlantic City (USA), both of which have very strong regulatory oversight. In areas where there is weak enforcement (I don't want to speculate about Russia) cheating may be more common.

If you win big, they can refuse to pay you. If they do pay you, they can steal their money back and kill you later.

If you lose a little bit, they will be your best friends and give you plenty of whiskey and caviar sandwiches.

First off, if a dealer is cheating, he has a stake in doing so that will certainly more than offset any tokes you may have for him. He likely has a vested interest in the venue's hold or is in collaboration with those that do. Your tokes are essentially chasing good money after bad.

Secondly, much can be gleaned from watching the dealer without necessarily watching his hands pitch the cards. A dealer's attitude tells you a lot about where his/her priorities lie and it doesn't take long to determine how seasoned or raw a dealer is. Even gender plays a part to some extent. It pays to learn to size up everyone at a table and draw conclusions about what to expect from each of them.

Finally, stick with venues owned by large chains or corporations. Although there are undoubtedly exceptions, your risk is hundreds of times higher when playing in a one-horse shop that's closely held and ripe for the kind of collaborative connections necessary for cheating to be fostered.
