For those that have made their own blackjack table, what did you use for your arm padding on the edge of the table? How did you fasten it to the table? What kind of fabric or material did you use? And most importantly, what did you use for the padding itself? I was thinking maybe foam pipe insulation would work, but am not sure. TIA
Tey have all kinds of foams that are water resistant. They also have rolls of vinyl material that they cover it with. I staple the foam on the wood then I take it to the seat coverer and she covers it for $50 bucks. Some vinyl materials are hard to stretch and sme are more elastic. Its the curve of the bumper that is tough to mount. On some vinyls you can use a hair dryer to heat and stretch the material. Its better to let a pro put it on. you can staple the foam on your self.
They will charge you $50 - $75 is standard to make you a rail. Is your table soild or portable? Soild the rail should be one piece and be able to pull right off like at the casinos,(I wouldn't staple one on.) If it's portable and you fold it away why even have a rail? (it is just something else to get torn up). I have 80 BJ tables I use for parties and I found along time ago the railing dosen't matter to the players. Now for my house I have a Full set-up for Blackjack as well as a 14ft Craps table out of one of the casinos and several slot machines it just depends on what you want and how much room you have.
I had the similar thought of building my own table (for Poker). I was thinking of 1 inch foam to cover the railings. Although I'm not an upholsterer, I think the trick is to get appropriate vinyl tough enough to cover the foam tightly.
