Poker
There are two rooms open as of a couple of weeks ago and the Beau will be bringing back a cardroon upon their reopening.
The IP has the largest room but no poker rate for rooms. If you want to stay and play at IP you pay their standard rate of $189 per night. The Isle of Capri has a somehat smaller room and a $79 poker rate for rooms. The Beau? Don't know yet, but the cardroom is supposed to be much better than the one they had when they first opened, which was not soundproofed (and the slot cacophoney was over-powering) and way too cramped.
The casinos haven't missed their opportunities to gouge their customer base as, along with the overpriced rooms, rake has jumped to $5. Tunica is a much better deal and probably will be for a couple of more years until the terrible damage from Katrina is overcome. All the Pakistani-owned motels along US 90 (and I mean all of them) are now only a memory. The Mississippi coast will have a housing shortage for quite a while.
I did check out the 21 games at IP, Boomtown, I of C and the Palace, and as before, penetration makes the shoe games marginal and the double-deck a waste of time.
