The 1 & 2 deck strategy for Red Seven on page 48 tells me to DD on 9 against a 2 at RC of 0, and DD on 9 against a 7 at RC of 2. Can someone please explain this move so that I understand the thinking behind it?

...the undealt composition of cards begins to favor doubling 9 vs 7, due to a higher ratio of 10s and Aces. Notwithstanding, I would make a few 'risk-averse' alterations to the published Red7 1-2D indices -
9v2= +1
9v7= +3
10v10= +4
10vA= +3
If you alternate between handheld and shoe (6-8D) games, simply double all 1-2D index values.
The two beauty factors of R7 is that its the easiest level-1 system yet comparable in performance to more complex systems -and- it can be 'upgraded' to a pro-level-2 system over time WITHOUT ever changing count systems.

Grifter, please share your thoughts on the time and place to split 10's. I know this may cause heat. However, at the red chip level im not really paranoid. If there is an aggressive Red7 play for 10's, I want to use it.

If you wish to break into tc conversions, a nice method is simply to take insurance whenever the RC is equal to the remaining decks in play.
This comes from BR-H himself.
