Been working thru the book. Very good (so far)!
If a book is thought-provoking, it's worth the fare. And this book passes the mustard for sure. Thx, Don!
I will comment re: the floating advantage. If there is still any confusion about why the floating adv exists, I'll throw in my two cents.
Let's say you're playing vs a 6-deck game. With 5-decks remaining and a count of zero, true count = zero. During the upcoming hand, the true count won't swing too violently. Still 260 cards to come. A shift of 6 small/big cards can change the indicated playing strategy only a little.
But with only one deck remaining, even at the same starting true count, swings in small/big will result in significant changes in the true count. The "concentration effect" late is significant. Even with a neutral starting point, the far left player may be presented w/ doubling opportunities that weren't there at the beginning of the hand.
Just my two cents, but I think that's why it exists and why it's real.
