Buy some books.
From at least part of your post, it sounds like you have bought into the mythos that multi-deck games are "harder" to count than single or two-deck games.
They're not. A good count system is a good count system; it will provide you with information that you need to vary your betting properly whether you're dealing with 2D or 8D.
The reason 4/6/8D games are not as popular isn't because they're *harder* to count, but because the odds don't shift as far into the player's favor as *often*.
This is one of the first, main lessons that you will learn with most of the decent BJ tutorial books.
So I'd strongly suggest you get some of the books they mention here. Personally, having read several, I'd say that nearly any of them will provide you with what you need to know/learn on basic strategy; after that, each book usually goes into explaining that author's count system and how to use it.
Some of the books also are fair and compare other count systems to the author's, and explain the differences between one count and another.
Thus far, the book I enjoyed the best was "Knock-Out Blackjack". But then, I've chosen to learn the KO count system, so it shouldn't be a surprise that I liked that book the best. :) However, I think it's the best at being fair and explaining why the KO system is set up and works the way it does, and comparing it to Hi-Lo and the other counts.
I'm sure that others will provide you with book suggestions. As far as software, I keep holding back and haven't tried any yet, so for your actual question I'm useless. :)
Cheers,
Coop
