BJ 21 unfair policy?

I have heard rumors of a very strange event on this website. An individual on green chip was removed without warning or explanation for apparently political reasons and his money was originally to be kept by BJ21. After protesting, BJ21 said they would send him a check at sometime in the future. Since the indivual paid by credit card and is on the road and unable to receive a check it appears very unfair to do any of this. If a person paid by credit card and it was charged immediately by BJ21 that is how a refund should be issued not a check at someime in the future. The person should not be accruing interest after all this apparent unfairness, if truly stated.

Seldom do we have to kick anyone out of green chip, but it does happen. Most of the cases have involved people who apparently joined green chip for the purpose of causing mischief. The person would pay $12.25 to join green chip, and then would get kicked out after a few days and receive a refund of just under $12.25.

In an attempt to dissuade people from joining green chip just to cause mischief, we began a policy of no refunds if the person is kicked out for cause. As we explain in our description of green chip: "Membership is a privilege, not a right. If in the judgment of the editor (currently Stanford Wong) the green-chip pages would be better off if you were not a member, your membership will be revoked and the unused portion of your membership dues will not be refunded."

Recently a surge of objectionable posts under several new handles popped up on green chip. When I investigated with the intention of warning those people that I was getting complaints about their posts, I discovered that all those handles used the same password. That's how the person now Alice G is describing got kicked out of green chip.

That person threatened to "get my money's worth and you won't like it" if I did not give a refund. Bowing to what I perceived to be a threat, I said that I would mail a refund of the $9 remaining of the original $12.25 membership fee.

The Alice G post tells me that getting a refund will not deter a person bent on causing mischief. I learned my lesson: No more refunds for people kicked out of green chip for cause.

I welcome suggestions for dealing with mischief makers.

A person was removed for using multiple aliases to post streams of no-text, one-line insults against other members. It was clear to me that the person wanted to be removed for cause. It is also clear that the person was you using yet another alias. If BJ21 took such actions more often, I, and others would return.

P.S. If you are that concerned about the ten cents interest you are paying on your credit card because you didn't have the $12.95 to pay off the balance, we can take up a collection.

The person who you excluded is an honorable person and I'm certain was only referring to legal and proper actions. He paid for a service and received nothing. As a result, I'm sure that person will contact the consumer affairs people in your state and theirs to let them know of your policy. To exclude people and keep others money without clear indication of what is not acceptable poltically correct OPINION on an opinion page IN ADVANCE (the person used no foul language) is a very crude way to make addtional income. That person had no indication of such a strong politically correct bias.

Incidentally, the many who made crude and foul PERSONAL references to this individual's non politically correct OPINIONS are still members whose monies have not been stolen.

You need to explain in advance what is not accepted politically correctness. Without explanation of what opinions on an OPINION page are not accepted the newcomer has no idea what your politically correct codes are and money confiscation policies are.

No money was "stolen." Though our policy is that those who are kicked out for cause do not get any refund on their $12.25 membership fee, the person being discussed in this thread received a $9 refund for the nine weeks remaining in his green-chip membership. He is complaining because he received a check rather than a payment to his credit card. Generally we do refunds in the form of payments to credit cards. In this case, the person's "You have 3 days to send me a confirmation of my refund or I will respond well enough to get my $12.50 worth and you won�t like it� sounded like a threat to me, and made me decide that I'd want a cancelled check in case I ever have to prove that a refund was given. Why he is so upset with the check I do not know -- the "business trip" seems like a lame reason.

It appears that you continue to be both biased and unfair. The individual never was foul or out of bounds with his non politically correct comments. Yet the very crude personal, vile, obscenities directed at him from the poltically correct current members whom you support are somehow ignored. That you want to imply bad intent of the person is also nonsense as he has none. The individual felt that confiscating his money WITHOUT WARNING OR EXPLANATION and refusing a proper and timely refund requires him to report you to the authorities and to do all that is proper. You did not mention in your biased response that he said he would do what was proper. Your intent is very obviously to mislead. All this over refusing to credit the card as fast as you charged it.

That you require a check to prove that the person received it is lunacy as your credit card merchant account will verify the credit. You must think you are speaking with fools who cannot see through all these deliberately misleading comments. What you did and continue to do is wrong. You need to credit the credit card as quickly as you charged it.
You also need to let people know in advance that politically INcorrect opinion may warrant confiscation of their money. As for the individual being out of town, that is his business not yours. He should not have to wait to come back to town to verify that you refunded his money. I wouldn't be surprised if Monday morning the authorites in both states are informed of your practices.

All the PC crowd supporters can do is try to change the subject. You do not get to refuse the timely and proper refund of money when you deny service after there is no explanation or warning.
