betting strategy on streaks

i have been messing around with some betting strategies using a "press on streaks" theory... my question to you guys is...with an 8 deck shoe can someone tell me the possibilities of a winning hand streak and a losing hand streak.... aka how many hands can i possibly with in a row or lose in a row??... has anyone ever counted their streaks?? is this a logical method for a betting strategy?.. is it practical??

that link didnt help.. cause it only lets you calculates up to a 6 deck shoe.. not an 8 deck..

A streak is something that can only be analyzed after it has happened. Easy to see it in past tense. Impossible to know when it will happen good or bad again. If you notice you are in a streak, that is the past. The future is totally random regardless of the performance of the past. The next hand and future hands are just completely random and have nothing to do with the wins and/or loses of the past.

Where "W" is the prob of winning a single hand (~0.475 in the game you described, excluding push) and "L" is the prob of losing a single hand (~0.525, excluding push), and "n" is the length of the "string" of wins, then the prob of getting a run of "n" wins is:

W^n * L.

Why the "L" at the end? It has to be that way, or the run would be at least n+1 wins long.

Now, there is a mathematical quirk involved with this as to the distribution of runs of various lengths, since the sum of all probs for runs of wins from zero to infinity and runs of losses from zero to infinity must total 1.0; and each must total 0.5. But there is no practical way to take advantage of that quirk.

The essential answer to your (implied, but not stated) question is that you cannot win using a press-on-win or any other kind of betting progression.

Leave a table when you're down one SD and continue if you are winning until you're up at least two SDs.

Think of a winning streak as any arrangement of hands where you win more hands than the dealer, whether consecutive or not.
