Betting spread

Can anyone offer any good advice on what a good betting spread would be based on a true count(6 deck shoe).I have been playing mostly using a running count instead of true.I am now still using the Hi/Lo,but want to start converting to a true count for betting purposes. I know that big swings in betting patterns draw attention.Is there a certain negative true count when you should get out of the shoe.Sorry for the long post,just trying to get some good information.

I play mostly 6 and 8 deck games. I use a spread of 1-12. max bet at true count of +4. The spread I use is below TC+1 = 1 unit, TC+1 = 2 units, TC+1.5 = 4 units, TC+2 = 6 units, TC+3 = 8 units, TC+4 and above = 12 units. (the important numbers are what you set ur max bet and base bet, or 1 unit bet at. The numbers in between aren't that significant) I leave the table or don't play counts below TC-1. This is very important on 6 and 8 deck games. If you play all hands, you need a bigger spread to acheive similar results. Of course, leaving the table or not playing negative counts also depends a great deal on where you play and how many other tables are available. If you play at a small casino with only a couple tables available, not playing negative hands becomes more difficult

hello mf. big spreads are good. they do attract attention. why do you not want attention? would it harm you to lose access to a particular casino on a particular shift for a limited amount of time? why would it harm you? are you sure it would harm you? are you sure you are playing with an edge?

you've come to the right place to ask questions. you'll get a variety of responses and will learn a lot if you weigh the different points of view and think about why different counters have such different answers to the the same question.

it sounds like you are asking for a specific betting formula. there is no single, perfect betting formula for all counters with all bankrolls in all rule sets with all possible levels of penetration and under all possible heat circumstances. if you are not heat-averse it is often a good idea either to back-count (bet nothing without an edge) or bet infinitesimally when you have no count. i really recommend trying not to lose anything unless you have an edge. save all your losing for positive-EV bets. give the house nothing. challenge them to bar you and laugh when they do. it is a pleasurable experience, the barring. it makes you feel strong, especially when you take it like a man. spread infinitely. that's my $0.02. why should you not? what's the harm?

Stay in business. That's the goal. Don't burn yourself out with eradic betting that gets attention. With every true count at Hi-Lo your edge increases .5% so figure your BR then bet according to your advantage. You could vary bets in many ways. Be creative and look like a roller. You could average all your positive bets and make only one top bet whenever you have an edge. That way you don't have to compute true too much. Leave when the betting is over or take a break or a phone call. Jump back in if you can. I would stay at a true of -1 it's almost like starting at the top of a fresh shuffle and the count can change rapidly in your favor. Most high rollers keep a big bet out if they have won the hand. If you have to reduce your bet then maybe go to two hands of less chips. You've changed something so it's an excuse. Betting your BR according to your advantage is the safest and quickest way to increase your win but practical and witty ways will keep you in business longer and make more $ in the long run.

If you can convince the house that you are changing your bet for a reason you can make much bigger swings. It could be as simple and unfounded as "That's 2 pushes in a row. It's time to drop my bet." It could be asking the dealer if they feel lucky and pushing a small bet out for them while you put out a huge bet for yourself. I live in BJ purgatory, having limited places to play. I was well known in these places before I started counting and have learned how to use this to my advantage. It's amazing how many times I've had PBs tell me no to bet so much because they hate to see me lose. It's all part of the game and I love it.
