Get the "jewel box" you almost threw away when you purchased your last CD or DVD.
Take a hacksaw or knife heated to just below red hot.
Cut the corner off the jewel box about one inch from the corner. (No clone. You take the ROM disk out first!)
Get a bit of broken mirror (now you can defeat that 7 years of bad luck maybe).
Glue the mirror bit to the bottom of the jewel box section with super glue. Have the mirrored side face into the center section.
Now glue this to a piece of felt with Shoe Goo (tm) or similar product.
The above is a pracice peak reader, that works exactly like the mirror type devices.

Check your cards after using the homemade peak device. Compare their bends and the pressure that marks the cards in your practice sessions. The mirror will give you a bare view of the added index that casino cards now have. See for yourself the way that you put pressure on the top card pushing it in directly while the bottom card is only slid along. Note how the pressure is most along the edges as you try to make sure you don't expose the bottom card.
