Automatic Phone Call

On 3 separate occasions at 2 different casinos, when I was down more than $2,500 in one session, the pit boss made what it sounded like an autmoatic routine phone calls and dictated my name on the phone and seemed to be sort of filling some informations. On one of these occasions, the pit boss actually politely asked for my social security number. There was no associated heat at all. Does anyone of the experts know what is this routine. I appreciate the response

They were obviously watching you closely, but it may not have been because you were a counter. They may have thought you were worthy of comps. If they are able to recognize you, then they would be willing to give you a free meal or hotel stay, should your play warrent it. Sometimes, they want to track your winings/losses so they can comply with the IRS, or maybe the PATRIOT Act. Or they wanted to know who you arein case you are in fact a counter.
I think the answer is all of the above. With at least $2,500 to play with, most casinos do want to keep their eye on you, for various reasons.

Many casinos (especially indian) want your info to start tracking you for a possible CTR at $2500. Happens all the time. I played at one casino that would come up and offer you a casino jacket when you hit $2500 as a ploy to get the name and info from a "refused name". I got 5 real nice jackets until they started remembering me. Heat's usually indicated by either a change in pit demeanor accompanied by frowning or conversely a complete lack of attention while the cameras analyze your play.
