Another question, out of curiosity, that will certainly highlight the blatant fact that I've never been to a casino. I was wondering how the 3:2 payback works when you're betting quarters... I mean, you put a quarter on the table, get a blackjack, then get 2 quarters back as well as 12.50? Do they round this or do most casinos have a .5 chip? Anyway, my nearest casino is actually only 2 hours away, as opposed to 3 hours away and I'm building some speed on both my counting and my accurately playing basic strategy.

they have $2.50 chips for that purpose. if you have a $2.50 chip out and you get BJ $3.75 is rounded up to $4. so hardcore players may say to always have a $2.50 chip out there.

$2.50 Chips are used in Atlantic City. They are pink, by New Jersey Casino Control Commission regulation. "Mustard yellow" $0.50 chips were authorized, but I never saw them in use. Yellow chips with a $20 value were used for baccarat in Atlantic City in the early years. I have never seen a $2.50 chip in Las Vegas. Have you? if so, then what color was it? In Atlantic City, $1 chips are white, $2.50 chips are pink, $5 chips are red, $25 chips are green, $100 chips are black, $500 chips are purple and $1,000 chips are orange. These colors and colors for higher value chips and placks are all standardized by New Jersey Casino Control Commission regulation.

In Las Vegas, $1 chips are either white (clay), blue (clay) or metal; $5 chips are red; $25 chips are green; and $100 chips are black, by custom. I think that colors of $500 and higher chips are not standardized. Correct me if I am wrong.

Everything you write about AC is true. I play on the East Coast and, for various reasons, have not played in LV for over two years. I guess you are right about the LV game as I now remember getting two one dollar chips and a 50 cent piece with the $25 BJ payoffs. On one trip, I played in LV for a few days and then flew to Reno. I set off the metal detector becuase I had pocketed the 50 cent pieces during the Lv part of my trip.

Far easier in payoffs than getting three chips instead.

Most stores I've played have rounded DOWN rather than up with the odd bet so I would lose 25 cents on a BJ.

In my day, they used to pay just $5 and then put a pink $2.50 chip up. They've gotten more generous in their old age! :-)

Fitzgeralds down town LV had $2.50 chips when I was there not too long ago. They were pink. Lady Luck down town LV also used $2.50 chips. They were mustard color. Both chips are in my collection. $2.50 chips were also widely used at S. Shore, Lake Tahoe in the past.

If one is playing with these rules in BJ I assume it would be best to always make even money bets. No one likes prison unless it's roulette.
