you mean electronically via RFID chips, it's very rare, only 3 or 4 casinos (Wynn, Hard Rock, Aria?) Most casinos are using the same chips they've been using for years. High denomination chips (5K and up) are tracked the old fashioned way...by entry or comment in the computer. To cash one you'll have to have a play history.

Expect this to become more prevalent over time. RFID is becoming cheaper and more ubiquitous. For example, Skiers at all Vail Resorts, Incs. ski areas are tracked via RFID in their lift tickets. There is some controversy about it. If interested in details, Google Epicmix.
