In Reno I saw it on SD. The rules are H17, DOA2, DAS.

You say that the penalty for the 6:5 rule compared to the usual 3:2 is 1.7% but a rough check tells me that something must be wrong here.
We get a BJ about once in twenty hands.By paying it only 120% instead of 150%, the casino deprives us of 30%.On a per hand basis this makes 1.5% (30%/20) which is already bad enough.

For single deck, the probably of getting a blackjack = 2*16*4/52/51 = 4.83%. If you have a blackjack, the probability of the dealer also having one is 2*15*3/50/49 = 3.67%. Therefore, the probability of having a blackjack without a dealer blackjack is 4.83%(1-3.67%) = 4.65%.
EV for 3:2 = 4.65% * 1.5 = 6.97%
EV for 6:5 = 4.65% * 1.2 = 5.58%
difference = 1.39%.

paid the same as the 6 & 8? 6/5 is a huge difference from 3/2.
If you see anyone playing 6:5 blackjack, it is just a sign that they don't understand anything about odds.
But they are great time share prospects.
Which game would you rather play?
(1) 3/2, 2D, standard rules, full 7spot table, 50% pen, 5-200 limit, 45 min. session.
OR
(2) 6/5, 1D, standard rules, heads-up, RO7, 5-200 limit, 45 min. session.
Neither is not an option.
