Al Rogers' "Blackjack Games to Avoid" handout with Basic Strategy card

I see that Al has gotten many hits on his post about his basic strategy card that informs players about rip off games like 6:5. He has received many compliments for his efforts, suggestions, and discussion.

Al continually crusades against bad practices by the casinos against the patrons. Many of you here on the free page haven't seen some of the letters he has written and other actions he has taken on all our behalf.

He can't do it all alone.

I'm just wondering how many of you have bellied up to the bar and purchased a pad of the cards. I did, and I got mine in the mail today. It's a neat little pad with a cardboard backing. You can tear off a sub-pad of 10 or 25 cards, and they will stay neatly in your shirt pocket, so that you can hand them out when opportunity presents itself.

I gave one each to a couple of my co-workers today. I taught a class on blackjack in a German restaurant last month, I will be teaching another class at the end of this month by popular demand. I will give each attendee one of the cards. The rest, I will distribute on my next casino trip.

They don't cost much, so get off your duffs, and order a pad. We should all contribute to Al's effort.

Are you planning on handing them out in the casinos? Seems to me you would become a marked man rather quickly. Suggestions?

If I'm at a table, and a ploppy is struggling, I may say, "Here. Here's a card that somebody handed me outside the door of Casino X. It shows how to play basic strategy. You can study it later, or maybe they'll let you use it here. I think the guy said something about it telling how to identify the good games, too."

You can always give one to somebody at a buffet or attraction at a casino whom you over hear talking about blackjack.

Just be cool. I imagine I'll use mine up faster than I expect.

Put them with the Keno sheats in the coffee shops, most taxis have flyers and booklets on display in the back seat, put a few cards along side the booklets, leave a couple at the pay phones, hand one to the guy standing behind you in any line and ask if he can explain to you what if means by 6:5. There are alot of unaggressive ways to distribute the cards.

Also give them to relatives or friends in other cities to hand to their friends before they travel to any casino.

As for Al Roger's chart and games to avoid, I printed 1 on the laser printer at work then ran copies. I then cut them down to size using a large paper cutter. I will hand them out over the 4th of July in Biloxi.

Al and BJ21 don't do this soley because they are such nice guys. They are trying to earn a buck here.

Maybe you just ran out of you first order already and are planning on sending Al the $8.95 later for this batch.

The pack costs $8.95 including shipping. I think the postage on my pack was about $1.30, leaving a price of about $7.65 for the actual product. So, each card costs about 7.65 cents.

If you can make one card per minute, you are going to be earning a value of less than $5 per hour. Sure, BJ21 is bound to be making a little some-some off this, but it's probably just enough to defray the operational expense of providing them. I can't speak for Al, but I don't believe he's going to sweat this kind of copyright infringement, especially if it is spreading the word on 6:5, CSMs, and Fake single and double deck.

Al is a helluva nice guy. He cares about exposing shylocks who rip people off who are too ignorant to see through the scams on their own.
