Against A.C.'s 8 decks

When I started playing against A.C.'s 8 decks I thought I was going to make a lot more than I did because I thought my average bet size would be a lot higher than it was. But what happened was that there were just so many shoes that never generated a high plus count for me to bet up into. At the end of the day, too tired to play any more it didn't bother me if I had taken a loss because I knew that that was part of the game. But it got to me if it was time to leave and I was just up $60. All that work for $60. Blew my mind.

Being up ONLY $60, when EV was much more, 'blew your mind', how about when you were in the hole after a whole day, or worse
weeks or months????

In the middle of April this year, I was in the red $32,000 for the year. 15 weeks of fulltime play....down 32 grand. Yikes!

5 weeks and 6 figures later, things had turned around. The swings in this business aren't for the faint of heart. :-)

You went down $32,000 and I'm guessing your top bet is $300 which is 5 times my top bet of $60 which means if that kind of negative swing had happened to me I would have gone down $6400. But I never had a period of time when I went down even remotely close to that amount. I don't really know why it never happened to me except for what you say that the 8 deck game is less extreme. Other than that, well advantage players don't like the word lucky but I guess that's what I was or if you prefer my standard deviation was never that extreme on the negative side. You're insinuations are true and I don't mind making fun of myself. I was a wimpy blackjack player.
