Advice For $100,000 Bankroll

What would you fellas professional advice be to an AP who was about to get access to a $100K bankroll? How would you apply it? What games? What spread to try and pull off, and what expected value (per hour of play or however you want to break it down...)

Imagine if it was YOU getting the $$$ to work with, and you'd pretty much already decided to apply it exclusively to your blackjack career (no advice on other investments ideas please! LOL) -- how would you personally choose to put it to work?

one that will be mine to contemplate some day.

I would strongly consider both of these possible strategy's.
1) play a good $25 DD game, making bets of 25-100 max and drawing no heat. Then, when the count gets very juicy (+12 or more) around the 40% of the deck mark (as it does about once every 3 hours, start betting wildly, $300, then $500, even $1000 a hand. When the deck ends leave immideatly, not returning to that casino for 2 months or more.

2) Become a $500 player at the 3 or four big houses, but keep your bet size to 4 to 1. Yes, less expectation per unit size but you could probably make $1000 and hour no sweat and get a ton of comps!

Then you could always COMBINE these two ideas with #2 at say the Wynn and Venetian and #1 for the other 20 or so places that offer good DD.

I would predict aces first in DD games,
later in 6-8 deckers too.

At the beginning bet $200 when you expect an ace,
later more to $500.

Be careful and work hard.

$1K per hour? So that'd mean 100 hours to double the bankroll (100 x $1,000) so assuming just an 8-hour workday you'd have doubled BR in just under two weeks (12.5 days)???

YES, THAT WOULD BE 2 UNITS PER HOUR WITH A 1-4 SPREAD. DOABLE WITH TAKING BREAKS OFTEN AND PLAYING 2 HANDS X 2UNITS WITH ACE-RICH DECK

NO. NO ONE PLAY AT FOUR CASINOS AT THIS LEVEL EVERY WEEK FOR 80 HOURS AND NOT GET SERIOUS SCRUTINY. SAFELY, MOR LIKE 2-3 HOURS A WEEK AT EACH HOUSE AT MOST = 12 HOURS X 1,000 (OKAY, 500 FOR ARGUMENT) is (6,000) UP TO 12,000 WEEKLY = $300,000-600.000 A YEAR NOT BAD

First, be aware that this is not a huge blackjack bankroll. Many, if not most, serious pros are at least as well-bankrolled, some several times greater. Getting in the hours is the difficult part. Expect to travel a lot.

Study BJA3 for the real numbers. It's not a Disneyland.

Win per 100 hands: 1.37 units
Opt win per 100 hands: 1.6 units
Play 1 on 1 with the house at the 500 unit level and you will SURELY hit 150 hands an hour. That comes out as 2.05 and 2.4 units per hour respectively, slightly EXCEEDING my predication of 2 units per hour ($1,000)

Got it?

P.S. And this does not take into account ANY bathroom or cell-phone breaks when the count is poor.

How about your ability to find many DD games with generous rules and 70% pen, so that after you've played at the first game for 15 minutes you're able to go to another game before getting backed off?

*You think they would back off a better going 1-4 units? Wow. I've never seen it . . .

I'm sure in your world it will be easy to switch from one hand to two or three in positive counts as well.

You keep posting about playing in ways that I can't imagine would be tolerated for more than a few minutes in any one location.

I've played this way for years, ussually with a female partner, both of us a very extraverted and friendly, tip heavy, appear to play on impulse, play FAST, cuss a bit when u lose, do a little jig when I win big, pocket chips alot, on and on . . .

So your expectation may be $1k/hr., but I doubt that you'd be able to get in more than an hour's worth of play in an 8 or 10 hour day.

*Never played at $500 level, but at 4-1 with above mentioned techniques, we will see . . .

The numbers you are giving us show a RoR of 9.3% for the 400 units bank. This would translate to $250 unit for the $100K bank describe by Nestor. Doubling the units to $500 (200 units) would bump the RoR to about 30% !!! This is pure suicide with this type of investment.

You may want to try it with $100 unit (1000 units in the bank) and win $137/hr keeping the RoR to an acceptable 0.27%

I am only a red chip player, supplementing my social security, but it certainly seems to me that your plan is flawed in a major way. I am currently training and playing with a professional player that does play to a six figure bankroll and his top wager is less than $1000. If your top wager is $2000 with a 100K bankroll, what kind of RoR are you looking at? I am guessing it would be higher than most professional players would accept, which leads to the question, is this 100K replenishible should you lose it? If the answewr is no, you may need to make some adjustments and significantly lower that RoR.

I also wonder how long a player, playing at the level you suggest can play for. Lower limit red and green players may be able to put in the kind of time and hands that you are talking about, but it is my take from reading these boards that higher stakes players cannot.

. . . If you read my entire post then you know I recommended taking breaks (bathroom, cell-phone, whatever when the count goes in the tank. Sort of a 1/2 wonging it approach. Risk of Ruin for this adjustment is probably less than 10%.
