I have just learned basic strategy and the high-lo card counting system. Most of the stuff I have read suggests changing your bet to fit the running/actual count on the table. Does anyone change the basic strategy to fit the count?
If I am in a plus 5 count, and I know I am more likely to get a ten on the next draw, why should I hit a 12 to a dealer's 3?
There are specific counts, commonly called indicies, that we will deviate our play from basic strategy. Pick up a copy of Professional Blackjack by our host, Stanford Wong. His book is the reference for the Hi-Low system you use. In his book, you will find all the indexes you seek.
As an example, you would stand on a 12 to the dealers 3 at a +2 True Count.
Is "Blackjack Attack", by Don Schlesinger. He has distilled the indices down to the ones that make up the most gain based on frequency of occurance and dollars wagered. Known as the "Illustrious 18" or the revised "Catch 22" indices.
