Many of you are familiar with the works of John May, who is well
respected in the blackjack community. John, like you, was interested
in whether or not he could find mathematical "proof" that dice control
worked, so he undertook the challenge on his own. He posted the
results recently on the BJ21 forum. I have taken the liberty of
cutting and pasting an exerpt from the post here for your edification:

A couple questions: Is dice setting for real? or is it a myth. Do most
advantage players consider dice setting bonified advantage play?
Thanks
It is real...

Dice (JuanP)
If you throw dice in a constant trajectory and velocity you get the
same numbers. That is basic physics.
I practiced for about a month and determined I had a sevens to rolls
ratio (critical for advantage craps) of about 6.7. The result could
have been chance (about 1 in 500 possibility) and, if I played in a
real casino it would likely have been lower due to real-world
distractions and pressure. I determined I could make better money
doing other things. However, I tend to believe that some individuals
with greater physical skill than me (not really that unusual I would
have thought), can get a significant edge at the craps table.
