I thought I'd add to MathProf and Cacarulo's work with a third simulator. I collected OPP sim data for the following:
Decks: 1, 2, 6, 8
Rules: The eight combinations of S17, DAS and LS
Penetrations: All reasonable penetrations by the card
Spreads: All spreads from 1 to 100
All combinations of all of the above. 1,000,000,000 rounds per each sim. Four players.
As there are over 100,000 combinations, I have placed the data on CVCX Online where anyone can view it. SCOREs, EVs, betting ramps, risk, etc. can be displayed for every combination. There are two sets of data depending on the setting of the Simplify Bets option. When not set, an optimal betting ramp is used with integer bets. Set the option to use a "rational betting" ramp. This creates a ramp as optimal as possible but with sensible bets (like $5, $10, $25) and also limits bet differences to 2.5x.
To see the results, go to CVCX Online, and hit the top Launch button. Select OPP Count (it is the last one) fill in the desired rules, decks, etc and click Calculate. For comparison, KO Rookie and KO Preferred data (as well as most other common stratgies) are included. Just change the
strategy at the top and the numbers change in place for easy comparison. Definitions for all fields can be found below the calculator.
A quick look shows that in a standard six deck game, OPP has about 50% of the win rate as KO Rookie (no indexes.) About 30% of KO Preferred. Note: The OPP results here are better than in the original OPP article because the betting ramps have all been optimized for maximum win rate.
