6 to 5 Blackjack

I have heard a few of the list discuss this horrible 'casino reduced payout'. But When I saw it at the Silver Legacy Casino in Reno the other day, I realized it may become a trend soon.

How much does it actually take away from the player?

Or, how much will it reduce the percentages in BASIC STATEGY if it's at all significant?

*Terrible* that so many Saturday night were sitting in on a 6 to 5 BJ game, Double on any first two cards, with a minimum of $10 and a $1000 maximun limit: but the 6 to 5 for a BJ is a bad investment.

You have a 4.83% chance of getting a blackjack (single deck).
Every time you get a blackjack, you lose 30% of a bet in EV. Therefore your loss is 4.83% * 30% = 1.45%.

Note that since there is no strategy in getting a blackjack, the 1.45% increase in house advantage is independent of the player's playing strategy.

Your 4.83% frequency for a natural, at SD, includes pushing the dealer's natural, where you wouldn't get paid anyway. You get an untied natural 4.65% of the time, so 30% of 4.65% is 1.395% -- the actual cost of the 6:5 rule at SD.

Its worth pointing out that card counters do attempt to bet when the likelihood of a blackjack is higher, which means that this rule hurts counters even more than regular players. Those individuals who like to play 6:5 SD games because they fancy themselves as card counters are being incredibly stupid.

I play Super Fun 21 with a -0.94% EV using playing strategy indices generated from SBA 5.5. I wouldn't play a 6/5 if I were paid to do it.
As you just mentioned, the game harms card counters more than basic strategy players. I can think of more enjoyable ways to hurt oneself if that is your proclivity.
