Many casinos on the Strip have gone to paying only 6:5 on Single Deck blackjacks, instead of the traditional 3:2. Obviously, this is bad news, but can anyone tell me exactly how much this has damaged the SD game, and whether the 6:5 SD game is as attractive as the DD game with the same rules and the standard 3:2 payout?
Also, does anyone know whether the change in payouts effects strategy?
The 6:5 payout costs you about 1.39% off the top in that game. That is huge. Any standard rules game is going to be better than that, by a very long shot.
The 6:5 payout requires no strategy changes since it only affects naturals, but why play it? This game isn't blackjack, it is a look-alike carnival game designed strictly for suckers.

I know most pros here won't look at this game but with a large enough bet spread( at least 1-12) it is worth a look. Also for the most part the pit does not sweat this game unless you are playing black to purple. Then there are places like O'Sheas where you can get break-in dealers ( some extra good opportunities) and they recently changed their rules to DA2 and DAS with some real good pen. I was playing there recently and dealer told us the new rules 1-3 spots to about 70% and then shuffle, 3 rounds to 4 and 2 rounds to five and six. One time the dealer actuall ran out of cards!!! They do have much lower limits than the other places but red to green, I have not encountered any heat.

Did you run a sim or do other analysis? If so please give details. I expect the huge casino edge off the top in combination with the fact that count changes provide lower change in advantage than in regular blackjack would make the game practically unbeatable, and certainly not worth the time.
I heard about the 6:5 games from a friend. I was wondering, how frequent are these games? My friend told me Flamingo Hilton and Paris had 6:5, so I would expect other Park Place Entertainment casinos (Bally's, LV Hilton) would be like that, but are they really? How about the MGM-Mirage casinos (Mirage, Bellagio, Treasure Island, MGM, Monte Carlo, Golden Nugget, NY-NY)? Are these games only on the Strip or do they have them in downtown as well? Have they replaced other hand-held games (e.g. does the Flamingo still have its normal 2-deck game)?

I haven't run a sim, but David Mathews ran a sim on the Stupak even-money blackjack game with 100% penetration a few years back and determined it was quite beatable with a 1-8 spread (please repost if any one still has it). So, since 6-5 is better than 1-1, it can be assumed this game is beatable if the pen is deep enough.
A hi-lo TC point is worth about 40% less than normal if I remember the calculations I did on this correctly.

Totally different game, can't be compared to the 6/5 ploppy ripoff game.
Superfun is beatable under the right conditions, with a big spread and a specialized strategy. 6/5 is a total scam.
