2 questions

I have taken up counting on a regular basis after a long absence (approximately 15 years) primarily because I was living in a casino free area. I have a couple of questions to ask of the veterans. I am using a count system (2,7 +1 3-6 +2, A 10s -2). I am sure where I got this count from. It is not in my current library of books. Any comments on this system and are the Hi/lo numbers for the Illustrious 18 variations of Basic Strategy valid with this count.

Also the casino I have started to play at most often will show you the burn card at the beginning of the shoe and when the tap off if they are asked. Is this normal now?

Hard 14, The original indices for the count are, I believe, included in Revere's "Playing Blackjack as a Business." The I-18 HiLo numbers will probably do if you are adjusting your true count to the half deck. When I was using Uston APC to the half deck I found that they were virtually the same. Hit 'em hard. Actually that was three questions, but I can give you two answers.

Apparently your library does not include the classic Playing Blackjack as a Business, by the late Lawrence Revere, because you have described the Revere point count. If you are comfortable with a level 2 count it is more than adequate. Don Schlesinger uses this count.

Since it is a level 2 count I do not believe that the I-18 indices can be used directly, but I will leave that to someone more familiar with the count.

It is most definitely not normal for the casinos to show you the burn card, at least not in Las Vegas or CA. Even better is if you can adjust your bet after you see the card.

_Playing Blackjack as a Business_, the book that made more card counters (including me) than any other has a one-deck decision table for his point count. Revere used this count himself in his playing career, so his published advice is absolutely germane. The book itself, a textbook on the game, first appeared in 1968, although Revere did not copyright it till '69(!). It is dated, but not outdated, and you would be remiss in not procuring it.

You can purchase multi-deck decisions for this count from www.reverebj.com/. I'm not sure, but his heirs may run this site, as their place of business is his old abode at 1517 Rexford Place, LV.

As an anal believer in complete decision indices (screw this limiting oneself to eighteen crap [sorry Don]), you may purchase software sold on this site for generating such.
