Right now the tax laws are pretty much the same.
The W2G forms for video poker are currently stuck at a perpetual $1,200 since the 1970's.
Although table games winnings are on the honor system, the cage is subject to bank secrecy laws for $10,000+ transactions, and they mostly keep a log for transactions of $3k or more for personal reasons.
Some places the threshold is $2k for the internal log, and other places have their threshold as low as $1k.
Some casinos are worse and will require both ID AND Players Card at the cage.
The $600 tax rule applies to lottery and bingo pull tabs, but the IRS briefly proposed lowering the W2G threshold to $600 (has NOT passed), and Congress has shown no interest in raising the $1,200 threshold, despite aggressive casino lobbying to change the law.
