The Answers

Card Hand #1

A, 5 vs. 7, which is hit with another Ace
(HIT, because the hand is now a soft 17 and you always hit a multi-card soft 17.)

Card Hand #2

A, 2 vs 2, which is hit with a 9 (HIT, because the hand is now a hard 12 and that is a hit against a dealer's 2.)

Card Hand #3

A, 2 vs. 8 which is hit with a 5. (STAND, because the hand is now a soft 18 and you hit that only against a dealer's 9, 10 or Ace.)

Card Hand #4

A, 4 vs. 9, which is hit with a 3 (HIT, because the hand is now a multi-card soft 18 and you should hit against a dealer's 9, 10 or Ace.)

Card Hand #5

A, 6 vs. 10, which is hit with another Ace (HIT, because the hand is now A-7 and that's a hit against a dealer's 9, 10 or Ace.)

Card Hand #6

A, 3 vs. 7, which is hit with a 3. (HIT, because the hand is now a soft 17 and you always hit a multi-card soft 17.)

Card Hand #7

A, 4 vs. 10, which is hit with an 8 (HIT. The hand is now a hard 13 and that's a hit versus a dealer's 10.)

Card Hand #8

A, 5 vs. A, which is hit with a 3 (STAND. The hand is now a multi-card soft 19 and that's always a "stand".)

Card Hand #9

A, 3 vs. 4, which is hit with a 3 (HIT, because you always hit a multi-card soft 17.)

Card Hand #10

A, 5 vs. 10, which is hit with a 10 (HIT, because the hand is now a hard 16 and Basic Strategy says to hit 16 versus 10.)

Remember the two rules:

#1 In the case of three or more cards, you'll always hit a soft 17, regardless of the dealer's up card.

#2 When you have a three-card soft 18 (or more), you'll always stand, except hit it against a dealer's up card of 9, 10 or Ace.
