- a follow up to Chuck's inquiriry...... YOU are a serious backcounter always concerned about maximixing hands per hour..... You spot a good count and ......want to enter the game. YOU need to come in but some dipshit....... is telling you otherwise, perhaps the whole table, maybe........ to even to wait out the shoe. How would YOU handle this?
..."yes, I do mind, thank you". Then you sit down. It's a simple as that. You aren't there to make friends, you are there to make money. If they don't like it, they can move to another table.

Something like, "Sorry, I am short on time. I have to meet the wife for dinner in a few minutes".
"Sorry, I just want to get in a few hands. Then I have to pick up the wife who is shopping, so I better win".
Midnite
I play mostly single deck and if the count is positive or neutral early in the deck, I always ask people politely to wait. Don't care if you are a counter or a ploppy!
This has two affects: 1) much of the time the person decides not to sit down at all and I maintain a game with fewer players. 2) The great majority of players will at least wait if you ask, thereby not eating up cards in a positive count. If you are a single deck or even a DD player, you should always try to control players sitting down. Asking politely with an excuse is usually well received.
