I have a trivial question concerning the nickname for backcounting. Shouldn't we actually call Wonging Thorping since in the 1966 version of 'Beat the Dealer' on page 126 Thorp describes 'Striking when the dec is hot?' I know it is a trivial question of no importance, but it's been bugging me.

I think Wong gets credited with the name because he analyzed and quantified the gain from the technique. To be fair to Wong he never attempted to claim credit for the concept, that was down to his disciples.
Incidentally, there is also a pretty specific description of what Snyder later called "Depth-chargin" in the 2nd edition of BTD.
