why are ploppies so stupid??

i know this story has come up by all of us at least once but i will bring it up again.i almost had a fist fight this weekend with a guy who said i messed up the flow of the cards when i sat out a hand.why would a normal adult think that he will lose if someone sits out a hand or if someone comes in the middle of a shoe.these people dont believe in bigfoot so why do they think the cards KNOW i sat out a hand and they will now get crappy cards.i dont care one bit that the casinos ruin these idiots lives.

So Pat, define just who you are refering to when using the slang 'ploppie', is he uninformed or just superstitious? the former would describe you, me and all counters prior to becomimg proficient at the game.The latter would include 99.9% of the population in some way.Think on pat before you vent.

i dont think any of us would start a fist fight(pre counting or othewrwise) and say we are now going to lose because someone sat out or came in.its one thing to think 3rd base took the dealer's ten when he hit 14 on a 6 but to think you will now lose because it 2 handed instead of 3 is a little wacky.

It would appear that two players of limited intelligence would be a pre-requisite to NEARLY have a fist fight.It has been said many times that you should leave your emotions at the door, take heed and you will have a more pleasant game and hopefully take a few bucks from the house.Apparant that gallas pat and his ilk are too keen to criticise others and it affects their game. It wouldn't surprise me if "the average ploppy" does believe in Bigfoot and all sorts of other mythical things. Bigfoot is no less believeable than the mythical, magical "flow of the cards."

In Laughlin 3am Sun morning between the CO Belle and the Pioneer (near the dumpster as i recall). The Flo was there too, at least that's what I though he called his toothless mate.

Thanks for the tip. We were able to apprehend them, and take them to the animal shelter, as a result of your information.

Our people staked out the dumpster until Bigfoot and Flo reappeared. We overheard the beasts mumbling something about eating out of the dumpster was better than some of the buffets in Laughlin, and better for them than the blackjack games at either the Pioneer or Colorado Belle.

The casino managers are now arguing about who owns the rights to the creatures, so they can get them out of the shelter and display them in their pit, so that those who doubt they exist will be convinced.

Some years ago, I had a similar experience to the one described by pat.On a high count I had spread to three hands. Unfortunately the dealer got an ace and the Arab who was playing third base shouted furiously at me that I was making him lose money. I defended myself by saying that it was stupid to think that Aces could be kept away from the dealer simply by playing the same number of hands throughout.Now he screamed:"You are calling me stupid!" and rushed towards me raising his hand. In the last moment he was held back by two of his bystanding friends.
May be I have become wiser since then but sometimes it's difficult to sit on ones mouth.

I swear my home casino has to be the most superstitious. Everyone believes in 'the flow'. Half the people are asians (not being offensive, they just tend to be more superstitious than most backgrounds). They'll all swear at you if you deviate from BS (strangely enough, they'll curse YOU for sitting on 16 vs 7-10 but they'll sit on it themselves all day long.)

Still, going along with that crap does add a bit to the cover.

Why would you do this, except in an extremely high count?

They'll often sit on a 16 vs 7-10, where as if someone else does the same thing, they'll go off at them, win or no. It's just a double standard (hypocrites).

I personally never deviate from BS unless the count tell me to.

the sitting on 16. They're normally divided on that move. They'll compain you'll eith pull the bust card (the low card), or pull the picture (and you lose anyway). I guess I understand the logic though. Why pull a card that might make the dealer bust? Why pull a card when you will probally lose anyway? They don't know the probabilities of BJ. Sitting on a 16 vs 7 has some sense behind it. There are 5 cards that would have him sit on 17+, but there are 8 other cards he could get. Of course they don't figure that 3 of those would give the dealer a strong hand (in comparison to 16). I guess they figure if the dealer doesn't get a 10, he'll probally get a stiff and bust.

Generally though, I find asians play a better BJ game than any other background. Most of them play similiar to BS, and haven't met a stupid asian player EVER. Met plenty of ethnic ones though (I'm in that group, and I can say as a background, wog/latin gamblers are the worst). We'll plsit 10s whenever possible, double off 12s etc.

Still, I've done every stupid move once (and once only, at least when I'm not counting) to experience it. Splitting 10s or sitting on a total less than 10 is fun. The time I did that I won of a total of 4 (pair 2s). Also is good for clearing the table.

Actually, you still have a positive and pretty respectable EV when splitting tens against weak dealer upcards; so it's not a *totally* idiot play (like doubling on 12 or standing on a total less than 10). Of course, standing the 20 has a *better* EV.

As far as hitting/standing 16 v 7, I look at it this way:

You should *definitely* hit, not just because of the EV numbers, but because if the dealer makes a hand it's probably going to be a weak one, thus if you make a hand it will probably win or at least push.

Compare this to hitting 16 v T. Even if you make a hand, you're still probably going to lose.
