I was wondering....

when do you leave the tables...
a. when you're tired?
b. when you've won a certain amount (what amount?)
c. when you lose a certain amount (what amount?)

do you limit yourself to time, or just go until you gotta leave?

I always find that i'm usually down at the end of the night and was thinking i should quit when i make a certain amount. bad idea huh?

a. Always! Don't play when uncomfortable, unhappy, inebriated or distracted. Quit well before fatigue sets in.

b. Don't limit yourself to winning a certain amount unless it brings heat or you can't handle the emotions that come with piles of money.

c. A Stop-Loss is a bad plan for serious card counters, but a recreational player may find some value in it. It makes no sense mathematically, but there is some emotional value in it.

The best way to think about your play is one long session that is broken into shorter segments. You want each segment to be filled with high quality, both in your play and the games you choose. Don't worry about trying to beat the clock, you have more valuable things to concentrate on. Set a schedule for yourself that will preserve your health and relationships and stick to it.

Good for your ego, but no value math-wise. Play when and where you can get the best game, and quit when conditions deteriorate, you are tired, or you are out of time.

Yup, only legit reasons I can think of to quit are: 1)having to be somewhere else 2)fatigue 3) session bankroll too low to continue 4) can't play in a positive EV often enough for whatever reason 5)heat 6)wife will not give you sex if you lose anymore $.

Maybe you're down at the end of the night because of fatigue and frustration is allowing you to get sloppy with your decisions.

This game can be so cruel. You can play for days/weeks using precisely the strategy recommended by the experts of the game and still be behind. Meanwhile, a clueless drunk on a hot streak can get lucky and make a small fortune.

But if you are losing steadily, do you have a handle on why?
Are you counting effectively and selecting good games?

If so, you would like to play on forever, but you would have to be concerned with being detected, backed-off or barred. Thus, many experts folks recommend limiting your play in one casino to less than one hour of play during an eight hour period, or leaving when you are up or down 15 average bets.

But if you are losing consistently, its a matter of knowing why you are losing. Is your game weak...do you make mistakes like dropping the count, missing double down opportunities, or does you play deteriorate after a couple of hours/drinks? How many strategy variation indices to you know and use? Do you overbet your advantage? Or do you know how to figure house edge and and assess the effect of penetration? Can you count down a single deck in 25 secs or less? Do you have a bankroll large enough to withstand a run of bad cards?

If you can pass the tests mentioned above, then you can say it is just a matter of time until you luck swings around.

is like the start of a new day. It is independent from what happened in the past even though the C changes. Stay possitive with your mind. Don't let non-mathematical thoughts creep in and affect your betting & play decisions. Play as much as possible in +EV situations. Never leave the table for any reason when the C is +1 or higher.

If I am seated on a good game (rules favourable/likeable) and suddenly hit a run of extremely better than average S.D, I wait for the next -C and I leave ( if I had not hit the 'good run' I would take a bathroom break on the -C). This would have limited my exposure to this shift and I can return without fear of having been made on a previous days play.

For example on my last Vegas trip I was at MGM and wonged into a positive shoe, the count was just getting higher and higher ( as were my bets ) and before the end of the shoe I had made 115 units in less than 20 mins. I took the money with the full knowledge I could return another day even on the same shift and not worry about heat.

prior engagements of some sort. There is not a mathematical reason for stopping at some particular point unless the game has deteriorated. The poster's comment that his end result might have indicated that he should have quit earlier makes no sense.

In partial answer to your question, I never play when I am tired to begin with. I never play to any set level of win or loss.

Based on vast published information, trip reports on various websites, and my own experience, I typically play 1.0 hour at SD and 2D, and 3.0 hours at 6D. I typically spread 1-6 on 1D, 1-8 on 2D, and 1-16 on 6D. I am a low roller ($5 & $10 minima).

Sometimes if scrutiny from the pit is at a low level for various reasons, I will stretch a 2D session to 1.5 hours, although this may not be a good idea, as level of scrutiny from the sky remains an unknown. I have never, to my knowledge, been stung by this yet.

I have been told by a forceful and aggressive expert that 3.0 hours on 6D is too long, although, once again, I have never, to my knowledge, been tagged by it, and the person offering the advice did not cite any actual personal experience to back up his opinion. I believe his advice was geared to high rollers.

I tend to spread my activities pretty far and wide across the country, so tend to hit LV pretty hard (boosting bet spread) when I go there, more than one would do if a resident there.

Despite not playing to any stop-win or stop-loss, the graphs of my results looks pretty much like textbook statistics diagrams.
