What spreads to beat:

Hi, can someone tell me what "realistic" spreads (using KO count) I need to beat these games and make $10 and $15/hour if my min bet is $5?

1) 2D, H17, Double on any 2 cards, DAS, No Surr. --Casino adv. 0.53%

2) 1D, H17, D9-11, No DAS, No Surr. --Casino adv. 0.30%

3) 1D, H17, D10-11, No DAS, No Surr. --Casino adv. 0.43%

Does it matter if it's 2D casino adv of 0.50% or if it's 6D with the same advantage? Do you need a larger spread for the latter? Are there any rules of thumb I can apply? Thanks in advance.

Here is two spreads for the DD game. I assume you play Ill 18 excluding 10 splitting and adding DD 8 vs 5,6. I also assume you use running count. Minimum bet $5. If you start your count at -8, bet $10 at -3, $20 at -2, $30 at -1, $40 at 0 and $50 at >=+1 you will win 14 cents per hand, at 60 hands per hour you win $8.4/hour.

Here is a bit better spread: $15 at -3, $20 at -2, $40 at -1, $50 at >=0 you will win 15.5 cents per hand or $9.30 / hour. This game is tough.

Try to find better pen or play faster.

Your house edge figures are very close to those given in CBJN for the two 1D games you mention (CBJN indicates 0.32% for #2 and 0.44% for #3); however, the correct house edge for your 2D game is 0.40% (it would be 0.53% with no DAS).

So, you're suggesting a 1-5 spread, for DD games, no ($10-50)? Is this the max spread without heat for red-chipping? Actually, I can play about 80 hands/hr, heads-up and was HOPING for 1-6 or 1-8. Do you have any suggestions where to play for better penetration and less heat? I have a copy of the current BJ News but it doesn't say which casinos allow what types of spreads. You're right, I missed the $5 at -8 (a very negative count). I guess the majority of the bets will be $10-$50.

So, if you use the standard KO IRC of -4 for double deck, you need to add 4 onto all of the count numbers he listed. If you start your count at 0, you need to add 8 onto all of the count numbers he listed.
