VIP cards

I count cards and try to keep a low profile. For that reason, I always thought it made sense to never take up casinos in their offer of VIP cards, despite their benefits. Do other counters out there feel the same?

which is why it is not really a good idea to not get the cards. They don't pay much attention to that action anyway. As soon as you bet at a level that the casino will notice you it draws far more attention when you refuse to be rated. This, besides the fact that 20% or more of the total value you extract from the casinos in your career will come via comps, cash backs, free gifts, tournament entries, etc, all derived from player rating. For many card counters, those who never ultimately win, this is the only thing they ever get. Get rated and take your comps. Try to get cards without ID when possible and get rated under an alias.

I seldom use them. Would rather remain anonymous. Comps and coupons are not that important to me. There are many practical ways to refuse or stall getting a players card when asked by the pit that wont cause most of them to freak out regardless if you bet big or small.

The 1st time I was asked if I wanted to be rated....I very nearly freaked(give you an idea how long ago that was...it was at the Sands lol) I had no idea what they were asking at the time Only been asked a handful of times since...& the most i ever got out of it was a sandwitch at the "shoe". Ive lied about my name whenever asked... but ideas on gracefully declining would be appreciated

For starters you can say you're staying at another casino and leaving shortly or just act like a voodoo ploppy who is in the flow of a shoe and does not wish to be disturbed at the moment or maybe say something as simple as most ploppies will say, "No thanks I'll get one later." while you're asking the cocktail waitress for a drink or messin with the good looking broad next to you. Besides if the biggest comp you ever got was a sandwich,why are you even concerned about heat?

Ok,was a slight exageration...it was a meal for 2 at the snackshop..and I felt that turning the comp down was more noticable than accepting it..I dont ask for comps as i think it calls more attention to me. I NEVER play where I stay. I spread 20-50/hand & am frequently asked if i want to be rated or get the players card. I realize my 15 trips to Vegas dont count as a lot... but in those trips. I've had 3 losers( for a total left behind of less than 500 bucks.. and that includes tips,meals & cab fare) I've been remembered by dealers a year & 1/2 after I played against them(some of them remember people that win, believe it or not). And that's with trying to keep a low profile....as for heat,I"m sure any I've felt was just my imagination...but thx 4 da tips

Is this a typo? Did you mean $20 to $500? $20 to $50 isn't a winning game under most circumstances; a 1 to 2 1/2 spread??
