VEGAS HIT AND RUN

I am going to Vegas on Wednesday for NINE HOURS. I am playing hookey from work, driving up from L.A., then driving back. I will be there from about 9am to 6pm.

I play a progression system that had let me triple a modest bankroll in just a few sessions at the Indian casinos in CA (Chumash, Morongo, and the Spa Resort Palm Springs). If I have another positive outcome on Wednesday I will post the "system". So far it's been HUGE on the computer and great in the casinos. My question is....

WHERE is the best place to play in Vegas in such a short window? For all of you guys who KNOW Vegas, I'll put it out there: If you had NINE HOURS and $1,500, where would you go to maximize your day? How would you play?

The mean win/loss for blackjack play is advantage * average bet * hands played. Since you are not counting or doing anything else to change the house advantage, your advantage per hand is negative, which means you can expect to lose in the long term. It is possible to win in the short term, though due to variance. The more you play, the more likely your lifetime total will be close to the calculated mean (which is negative).

My honest answer is for you to learn some type of advantage play, such as card counting, to change the advantage factor from negative to positive. Barring that, your best bet is to bet it all in one shot. Then I'd use the remaining 8:45 to check out Vegas. It's a wonderful town. If you insist on trying this progression (many seem to need to lose a few times to be convinced that progressions don't work), find a game with a low house advantage. Perhpas a 6D, S17, DOA, RSA, LS game, of which there are several on the strip (Caesars, MGM, and many more).

What BJ_Player said about eventually loosing all your bankroll due to the negative EV is correct.

However, I don't expect anyone who has experienced "winning" (in a very short run) to believe anything but their experience. So, if you want to learn the hard way - try the online casinos. There's some links on this site. You can run your progression at home and loose your money without making the drive.

Or, if you want to make money, for the cost of gas you can get one of the books offered on this site (try Pro Blackjack or Knock Out BJ)and learn how to turn a negative EV game to positive.

You're not ready to be playing hookey from your regular job while replacing it with your new-found so-called get rich quick progression system. You have apparently won a couple times with it and now have a false sense of security. Beware my friend, you will learn the hard way soon with your progression or learn the not so expensive proper way by listening to us. The choice is yours. It's all just pure math. Don't get caught up with progression nonsense.

and put your winnings aside, learn a good count system, practice it until you can count down a deck flawlessly, THEN attack the casino's with "their money" and and your knowledge. Otherwise your just another ploppy trying to work voodoo on the cards.

Progressions involve varying one's bet, in any of an infinite variety of ways, based on patterns of wins and losses rather then on the basis of any actual advantage. They are non-sense and do not change the advantage of the game.
